Amidst 28 private acres, a Zen like peace and quiet wraps around you as you listen to the waterfall streaming into the Japanese water-garden including a koi pond, a swimming pond with a waterfall under a Buddha, and a frog-goldfish pond, all hidden from view up a nearly mile-long road. Drink in the sunset behind the 100 mile, 180-degree Western view of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley. Masterly-crafted stone walls surround the ponds and border walkway.

Mountain Home Studio is a 1,000-sq. ft. clean, beautiful space above the garage, across the driveway from the main house. It’s perfect for an artist or a small family. The studio has a king bed at one end and a full bed at the other. A canvass-and-wood-frame screen at the end of the full bed offers some privacy. There’s a bathroom with a shower; free WIFI; a kitchenette with a microwave, a toaster oven, a coffee grinder and coffee pot, and an electric water boiler, plus dishes, cups, utensils and a cutting board. There’s no kitchen stove or sink, but you have use of the laundry room in the main house, and a bay in the garage. There’s a small deck overlooking a grove of hemlocks where the sun rises. 1 or 2 house-trained dogs are welcome: there’s a small fenced-in play area behind the studio if you don’t feel like walking them on a leash, or they could play in the yard with our two medium-size dogs. A trail in the woods is a moderate hike that leads to a giant glacial erratic boulder---the Magic Boulder. Mountain Home Studio is just over the border from the Berkshires: 15 minutes to Tanglewood, and 20 minutes each to Lenox, Great Barrington and Pittsfield. We are 14 minutes to Chatham, NY, which is also a wonderful destination in Columbia County in the Hudson Valley.
